1. Georgio's Chicago Pizzeria & Pub: Not only was this voted the best pizza in McHenry County, but it was also voted one of the top 100 independent pizzerias in the country. If you're a pizza lover, you will love Georgio's. Think Lou Malnati's, but not a chain. They offer authentic Chicago thin and Deep Dish Pizza. Be sure to also try their homemade pasta's and dessert.

2. Halftime Bar and Grill: This is a local favorite. Halftime's is known for their delicious thin crust pizza and large domestic draft beers. Come on Tuesday's or Thursdays when the pizza is half off and the 20oz beers are only $2. Order a large sausage and pepperoni on thin and wash it down with some cold, cheap beers. You can also sit outside during the summer and watch the Volleyball leagues.

3. La Pizza Via: If you are looking for excellent New York or Detroit style pizza, head on over to La Pizza Via in Fox River Grove. They use high quality ingredients and serve seriously delicious pies. This is mainly a takeout spot, with a few small tables inside. 4. Nick's Pizza & Pub: Going to Nick's Pizza is an experience in itself. The restaurant is setup as log cabin style with animals and rustic decor hanging on the walls. You can't go wrong with the Nick's special but their Hawaiian pizza is also a fan favorite. Enjoy eating as many peanuts as possible and throwing them all over the floor. That's what they do here!

5. Buddy'z Pizzeria: The Scarnato Brothers have been involved in the pizza business going on 25 years. The food has always been made fresh, including the dough, sauces and their own three cheese blend, grated in house every day. Try the Lake Shore Drive Pizza on their famous Butter Crust. Buddy'z is located on the Historic River Walk in Downtown McHenry. It is a great place to grab dinner on the weekends during the summer. Enjoy the outside patio with live music and people watching.
